Located in Hayward, Wisconsin, Northern Wisconsin-Based Engineers, Inc. (NWBE) is an engineering consulting firm specializing in transportation design and construction management, commercial and residential site design, and FEMA Floodplain Letter of Map Amendment (LOMA). Established in 1995 by Heather Harrington, P.E., NWBE is 100% woman-owned and certified in the state of Wisconsin as a Woman-owned DBE.

NWBE's award winning staff includes four civil engineers and twelve civil engineering technicians. They have been the recipients of five Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northwest Region construction management awards, three statewide WisDOT construction management awards for the 2017-2019 USH 2 Belknap St. City of Superior and 2008 USH 2 City of Ashland urban reconstruction projects, and 2022 USH 63 City of Spooner urban reconstruction and a statewide award for Excellence in Highway Design, Best Rural Design by Consultant for the relocation of STH 40 in the Village of Bruce, Rusk County.

NWBE utilizes the latest technologies available for field surveying, data processing, contract management, and civil design. Installed computer software includes AutoCad, Civil 3D, Adobe Acrobat XI Pro, Smartsheet, WINSLAMM, and Estimator. Two Trimble robotic total stations and four Trimble RTK GPS/GNSS rovers are used for field surveys and data collection.

Public trust, quality product, schedule adherence, and cost efficiency are all primary goals of NWBE. We successfully collaborate with WisDOT, County highway departments, and municipalities to professionally guide their transportation projects to completion.
